Nathan and Geleen

Our Story

The following is a brief recap of our long and luxurious story.

How We Met…

The two of us both attended the same high school, John Marshall. We even sat two seats away from each other at graduation and yet, never knew each other existed. Different crowds I suppose. We did not meet until we both moved 400 miles across the state and started going to school at Texas Tech University. There we met during Freshman Orientation. From the 100 students in a crowded recreation center, Geleen recognized me and asked if I went to John Marshall High School. I said yes. From that moment we became friends, then eventually dated.

The Move to Austin

After I graduated I moved to Austin, TX to pursue a job offer while Geleen stayed to finish her degree. It was only for a few months, but we have never been apart for that long. After she graduated she came to Austin and we were together again. Finally, I decided to buy a house so the dogs can have a yard of their own. Yes…we love our dogs that much! Plus, I was tired of living an apartment life and wanted a house of my own.

The Engagement

On the day that I closed on the house, I decided to surprise Geleen with a proposal. Since the house was empty, I decided to set the mood by buying a picnic blanket which I laid out in the empty living room floor along with two empty wine glasses. When she got home, I picked her up and carried her into the house. She was amazed and surprised to see everything laid out. I forgot to mention the flowers that I placed on the floor too. While she was sitting down on the blanket I thought that this was the right moment to propose. As I took the box out of my pocket I could tell that her reaction began to change from “I can’t believe we have a house” to “Oh my god is he proposing?!?” Then I proposed…she was surprised…there was a pause ( I think she was taking everything in)…then I think she said yes.
